Digital Colorist - Alice Syrakvash | The film intentionally utilizes deep, crushed blacks and a slight hazy bloom around light sources.
This soft-focus, low-light texture enhances the "phantasm" or dreamlike quality of the narrative, making the scenes feel like hazy memories.

Uber Pool

About This Project

Production : Phantasm

Project Overview: Uber Pool “Phantasm”

Directed by Luke Monaghan, “Phantasm” is a cinematic commercial for Uber Pool that explores the serendipitous social connections formed during shared night rides in London. The film moves away from traditional corporate advertising, adopting a dreamy, narrative-driven approach that captures the fleeting intimacy between strangers within the confined space of a vehicle.
Color Palette & Cinematography
The visual language of the film, crafted by cinematographer Ben Fordesman, is defined by a “Neon Noir” aesthetic that balances the coldness of the city with the warmth of human interaction.
Cyberpunk Tones: The exterior scenes are dominated by a palette of deep indigo, electric blues, and teals. These cool tones represent the vast, impersonal scale of the midnight city.
Vivid Accents: To cut through the darkness, the film uses high-contrast “pops” of color—acid pinks, magentas, and amber oranges—sourced from streetlights, shop signs, and traffic signals. This creates a vibrant, multi-layered urban atmosphere.
The “Sanctuary” Glow: Inside the car, the color grading shifts toward warmer, softer hues. Hints of gold and soft yellow light create a sense of safety and “home,” making the car’s interior feel like a sanctuary against the harsh blue night outside.
